PRESENCEREADING

Observations fromthe elevation practice

Field Note(01 — 26)

Before SEVA proposes anything, it reads. Not the business it believes it is — the business a stranger meets on the public surface, with no introduction and no benefit of the doubt.

The public surface

Most companies have never seen their own surface from the outside. They know the work. They assume the presence carries it. It rarely does.

A presence reading is the act of standing where the visitor stands and being honest about what is actually there — the speed, the language, the proof, the silence where trust should be.

Where presence breaks

The break is rarely a single failure. It is friction where there should be trust: a site that loads like an apology, copy written for the founder instead of the visitor, evidence that lives in private and never reaches the surface.

None of it is fatal alone. Together it forms a signal — this business is more serious than it looks, and the gap is costing it.

The reading becomes the brief

We name what we found in plain terms before we touch anything. The reading is the part most teams skip, and it is the part that decides whether everything after it holds.

Understand first. Structure second. Elevate third.
